My name is Cliona Campbell and I am graduating from the BA (Hons) Fashion Design with Sustainability at the Limerick School of Art and Design, TUS. My graduate collection ‘Lughnasa’ was inspired by traditions associated with the Celtic festival of Lughnasa. I took inspiration from Brian Friel’s ‘Dancing at Lughnasa’, a play closely connected with my hometown of Glenties, Co. Donegal.
I explored textile techniques such as knit and weave using beautiful yarns sponsored by Magee 1866, along with a by-product of weaving called selvedge. Sustainability informed every stage of the process from material choices all the way to garment development and finishing touches to create a collection that is environmentally conscious and responsible.
